Hello! My name is Rich Novak & I’m Expatriate of the United States of America. My wife Janet Novak (also a US Expatriate) and I are two of the part-owners of RE/MAX Beaches & City! – Panama City, Republic of Panama.

For just about all of my entire adult life I have been exploring the world-over, investigating & searching for: The Absolutely PERFECT Place to Be!

First, before we begin our journey together, I feel obligated to share with you some of my personal background. I certainly hope I won’t bore you to tears with these details, but I am originally from the city of Chicago, Illinois – Roseland - the far south side… near the neighborhood of mean, mean Leroy Brown & his junk yard dog. At a very early age, my Father deserted my Mother and the three (3) of us kids. My childhood memories unfortunately include witnessing my Mother kneeling by the side of her bed praying for my Father’s return and then crying herself to sleep, once having only a lousy, crummy hard boiled egg, that’s right a single hard boiled egg, instead of a turkey on Thanksgiving Day and the Salvation Army once bringing us a food basket for Christmas. OUCH!!! More than fifty (50) years later, for obvious reasons, some of my childhood memories still hurt me way down deep inside! Maybe my early life experiences caused me to begin my quest to find – The Absolutely PERFECT Place to Be!

Maybe, just maybe, my early life experiences created my almost all-consuming and overpowering absolute addiction for traveling about on my quest to strange and exotic places. For a very long time I have been searching for that very special, inexplicable - "something." - The Absolutely PERFECT Place to Be!

As an example, at the age of 17, before I was old enough to be legally drafted into the United States Military, - I stepped forward & volunteered for Military Service. Yes, I am a Proud United States Veteran of the Vietnam War Era.

Much later, after spending a very large part of my life in the Greater Chicago Land Area, in the year 2000, my wife Janet & I relocated from Chicago to Florida – 1st to the Gulf Coast side of Florida & then to the Atlantic Ocean coast.

For your info, my wife & I have had the good fortune of being able to travel to, vacation in & explore just about all of the individual States in the U S of A.

I have also certainly not been to each & every place in the world, but so far I have had my "Boots on the Ground" in such places as (in alphabetical order): Afghanistan (Yes – Thanks - US Military), Aruba, Bahamas, Belgium, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Grenada, Guadalupe, Guatemala, Iran (that’s right Iran- Another all expense paid trip – Thanks Uncle Sam!) Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Venezuela, U.S. Virgin Islands – And now –

The Republic of Panama!

Oh! And I should disclose to you that while I served in the US Military I was awarded a TOP SECRET Cryptographic Security Clearance and there is no higher and/or more important Security Clearance… So I may, repeat may, have had my "Boots on the Ground" in some other places as well – but where ever that actually may have been – You really wouldn’t want to ever go there!

In many respects, I have often acted just like a shark – a land shark. Did you know a shark must keep moving or it will die? I seem to always keep moving, searching, investigating, and researching. I just keep looking & looking for that "something" – The Absolutely PERFECT Place to Be!

So my new found friend – does the above info about me -

Then - it happened to me!

At the time my wife Janet & I, and our Calico Cat named Purr-Cie were living, (& I mean really living - enjoying the great life) in our beach front penthouse condo on the Treasure Coast of Florida. From our corner penthouse condo, not only could we see the actual curvature of the earth, we often watched the cruise ships sailing off to the Bahamas - There was absolutely nothing above us but the Lord and the clear blue sky! WOW!!! SWEET!!!

Then, one day I was flipping through the pages of some sort of travel magazine when I came upon a one-of-a-kind picture… a picture that would literally change our lives - forever. It was a picture of a condo, or maybe it was a villa or small home - it was difficult for me to tell for sure, but this property was gently perched upon a tropical mountain hillside with an absolutely fantastic view of a sparkling body of water. In the picture a young man relaxed in his pool lounge chair as his woman gingerly stepped out of a small plunge pool and moved lovingly towards him. To say the least, you could tell this young couple was very much in love!!! I was compelled to put myself into such a perfect picture!

After viewing the picture, it was now as if Mother Nature, herself, had taken over. Ma Nature was propelling me to move forward! I was no longer in control of the situation whatsoever! The hunter & gatherer instinct inside of my very manhood forced me to carefully remove "the picture" from the magazine, treating it like the new found sacred treasure that it was – I dragged "the picture" my new discovery, my prize, my kill if you will - back to my cave... OK so, at the time, my cave just happened to be a penthouse condo right on the beach – So sue me!

As I entered the front door I excitedly exclaimed to my wife "Lovey, I promise you – I am going find us a PLACE just like this!" and then, with a magnet, I enthusiastically affixed this spell binding new life plan, represented by "the picture", to our refrigerator door.

Did we discover such a place? Yes! And we have the pictures to show you to prove it! Did we make mistakes along the way? Most definitely yes & then some!!!
